My focus while serving on the Tucson Unified School District Governing Board has been on ensuring the best possible education for all our children, and to create a space where concerned students, parents and taxpayers voices can and will be heard.
I have striven to increase transparency accountability. I consistently call for and listen to public input on important matters, and to encourage fresh ideas from students, parents, teachers and taxpayers.
It is obvious to administrators, teachers, school staff, parents, and other stakeholders that I am not afraid to ask the hard questions that lead to the best decisions for our students and our community. I want to continue to bring fiscal responsibility to the District, while keeping student achievement at the forefront.
I am not, nor have I been someone who votes with one “faction” or another. I vote based solely on the merits of the agenda before the Board for consideration.
I am confident that we have a lot of work to do, but the progress we have made in multiple areas is substantial.
I want to continue in improving the quality of education in TUSD by providing programs that involve parents such as early childhood education centers, smaller community schools with no long bus commutes, smaller class sizes, and more funding for classrooms.
Thank you again for your interest in the Tucson Unified School District. Please consider contributing to my campaign to ensure that a fighter for transparency and accountability remains in the fight.
